Periyar University CDOE: fees, courses and admission

Overview

Periyar University is a Tamil Nadu government university in Salem, set up in 1997, and its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE, earlier PRIDE) has taught by distance since 2001-02. It offers nine master’s degrees by distance to students from Tamil Nadu, with emailed or downloadable study material, contact classes and pen-and-paper exams.

Courses and fees

Fees are from the CDOE fee structure page, which names no session; each year’s fee is split 60% to the university and 40% to the learner support centre, and the totals are the university’s own. With the first-year fee you also pay ₹800 (admission ₹200, matriculation ₹200, registration ₹150, recognition ₹250), and ₹200 alumni fee comes with the second-year fee. The application costs ₹354 for MBA and MCA and ₹236 for other courses, including GST. Exam fees are paid separately, and late payment costs ₹500 a year (up to ₹1,000).

   The CDOE posted an admissions-open flyer with no last date; UGC-DEB’s last date for admissions in this session was 13 October 2026.

2. January 2027 calendar-year batch

   Not announced yet (checked 23 October 2026). Periyar’s calendar-year batch runs from January to December.

Eligibility

• MBA

  Any bachelor’s degree of Periyar University or of another university it accepts as equivalent.

• MCA

  A bachelor’s degree with maths at Class 12 level, or a bachelor’s degree with maths, business maths or statistics as a subject.

• M.Com

  A B.Com, B.Com (CA) or an equivalent UG degree under the 10+2+3 pattern.

• M.A. History, Sociology, Economics

  Any UG degree under the 10+2+3 pattern. M.A. English needs a BA in English literature or a degree with Part II English.
